Tutorial: Preparing Tracks for Mixing
To ensure the best possible mix, it is crucial to prepare your tracks properly. Here are the key steps:
File Format: Export all tracks as WAV with 48 kHz and 24-bit or higher.
Naming: Label files clearly (e.g., “LeadVox.wav”, “Snare_Top.wav”, “Bass_DI.wav”).
Mono & Stereo: Export tracks from mono sources (e.g., microphones) as mono files, and stereo tracks (e.g., synths, overheads) as stereo.
Effects: Do not include reverb or delay effects on the tracks (dry export), unless they are intentional.
Track Start: All tracks must start at the same position (usually from bar 1) to ensure synchronization.
Volume & Clipping: Tracks should not be distorted. Make sure nothing is peaking.
